Scar Revision
Every surgical procedure leaves some degree of scarring as a natural part of healing. Scar quality varies according to many factors: skin type, genetic predisposition, post-operative care and the course of healing over time. In some patients scars fade markedly with time; in others, unwanted changes such as thickening, redness or tightness may occur.

To improve the appearance of scars formed after breast surgery (following augmentation, lift or reduction), different methods can be applied in combination:
- Topical care products and silicone-based scar treatments
- Injection-based treatments (in cases where they are indicated)
- Laser-assisted scar treatments (see Laser Treatments for detail)
- Surgical revision in selected cases
Timing is important in scar treatment; usually the scar is allowed to reach a certain stage of maturation. The method used and when it begins are determined after examination, according to the characteristics of the scar and the patient's tissue.
