Fat Grafting
Fat grafting is the process of harvesting fat tissue from the patient's own body (usually the abdomen, waist or thigh) with a special technique, purifying it and injecting it into the breast area. Because the body's own tissue is used, it integrates naturally.
In breast aesthetics, fat grafting may be used alone or in combination with other surgical procedures, for several purposes:
- Achieving a softer contour and a more natural transition in augmentation or lift surgery
- Balancing differences in volume and shape in breast asymmetry
- Supporting the tissue in congenital differences such as tuberous breast
- Providing slight fullness at the upper pole of the breast
- Correcting contour irregularities caused by scars or previous surgery
An important point is that a marked increase in volume is usually not possible with fat grafting alone; the method is used more for fine-tuning and for adding naturalness. Whether it is applied on its own or combined with other methods is determined after examination.
Since the procedure involves a mild liposuction at the donor site, recovery covers both the area the fat was taken from and the area it was injected into; return to daily life is generally possible within a short time.
