PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a plasma preparation obtained from the person's own blood, in which the concentration of platelets is far higher than in normal blood. A small quantity of blood is taken and passed through a special centrifuge process to concentrate the platelets, and this concentrate is then injected into the relevant area for treatment.

The effect of PRP rests on the growth factors densely present within platelets. In the target area, these growth factors support cell renewal, collagen production and the formation of new vessels, accelerating the tissue's own repair process. Because PRP is obtained from the person's own blood (autologous), it is generally well tolerated.

PRP in Skin Treatments

Applied to the skin, PRP is used to support skin quality, elasticity and radiance. It can contribute to reducing the appearance of fine lines, improving the overall texture of the skin, and supporting the healing of post-operative or acne-related scarring. It is usually applied together with methods such as dermapen (microneedling), which increases how well the PRP penetrates the skin.

PRP in Hair Treatments

In the treatment of hair loss, PRP is injected into the scalp to support the nourishment of the hair follicles and to increase blood circulation. It is frequently chosen as a method of supporting hair density and quality, particularly in hair loss with a genetic predisposition (androgenetic alopecia). For an effective result, an initial programme of several sessions about a month apart is usually recommended, followed by intermittent maintenance sessions.

The Procedure

  • A small quantity of blood is taken
  • The blood is processed in a special centrifuge to concentrate the platelets
  • The resulting PRP is injected into the target area (skin or scalp); if wished, it can be combined with supportive products such as exosomes
  • Mild redness or tenderness may follow; a return to daily life is usually possible the same day

The number and spacing of sessions varies according to the area being treated (skin or hair) and the intended result; the most suitable programme is planned during the examination.
